::June 30, 2008 ::Fernandina's coming back to Atlanta!!!! We are so psyched to have our baby girl back home! At the beginning of the summer, Amy, the singer/songwriter/genisis of Fernandina moved back up to SC to be with family, write some new tunes & save some money not living here. Well July 18th she'll be BACK!! Playing a show @ the amazing & fantastic WonderRoot with bands Cohen & the Ghost and Pacific Before Tiger. This show is working up to be pretty amazing. Come on out & put your dancing shoes on for Fernandina's 1st show back in Atlanta! Also happening @ WonderRoot, ctr has been working with Bo of Calabi Yau fame to put together a show here. July 8th will be Yardwork, Des Ark, Black Congo & local band Thy Mighty Contract. This show also will be amazing (would you expect anything less?) So come show your love for some kick ass touring bands & have a beer with us! ::March 31, 2008 ::
Holy. Crap. That's about all I can say. Friday's show @ RRE was AMAAAAZING!!! For an event that was quite honestly pretty 'thrown together' in about 7 days, things went fantastically well. In large part due to the Railroad Earthlings being so accomidating & helpful on such short notice. Not to mention all the bands, volenteers & Andrew for running sound all night (& especially for singing along to ALL of Fernandina's songs). Apocolypse Radio opened the show with some really amazing bluegrass tunes. The entire crowd was impressed. & although they had to run right after their set, ctr is excited to book more shows with them and Fernandina in the future. Apocalypse Radio was followed by Al Shelton, an amazing folk singer songwriter who had the entire crowd entranced. Chickens and Pigs followed with Jeff leading the charge. It was an amazing set & you could tell that the band was having the best time. They eneded their set with multiple sing-a-longs that had everyone cracking up & grinning. Last but by far not least (ok, we're biased) Fernandina went on. The energy during this set was one of the best. Many Fernandina fans hadn't been able to see her since February & were excited to hear her new songs. The last few songs had the entire crowd jumping, dancing & singing. It truely was alive. But the party did not end with Fernandina. Oh no. Neil & all our great friends @ RRE encourage everyone to stay, hang out by the fire & enjoy themselves. There was a small party down by the fire that eventually led to the music studio where an impromtu jam session broke out that lasted until around 5am & left Amy from Fernandina with blistered hands from playing drums for hours. Now THAT, is a musician. :: March 23, 2008 ::
Hello containment theorizers! It's been awhile. We here @ ctr are have been a little quiet on the show front lately, taking some time to relax for a hot second & brainstorm some new ideas and directions. So, on with the news. :: February 9, 2008 ::Last nights show was AMAZING!! Thank you to everyone who came out to help support Lewis! With all your help we were able to raise almost $500 to go towards Lewis' medical bills. The night started off with Chickens & Pigs, hilarious fun folk that made everyone smile. Then Pistolero played an amazing set & brought out some of their old late 90s tunes to add to the mix. Fernandina had a fun set performing (i think live for the 1st time) "Digital Mishap" & Mike Morelins' songs had us square dancing into the night! Our good friend Reed Elliot came by with his arsonal of vinyl & mixed some beautiful music in between bands and on into the night. A very special thanks to the Railroad Earth crew : Neil, Matt, Pi, Amanda & Stephanie, who let us take over their house for the evening & were all integral in the planning and organization of this night. We wouldn't have been able to make it without them. This show was so much fun & we were all happy to be able to help out a friend in need. Thanks again, we hope to do it again soon! :: January 29, 2008 ::Alright, get ready. Because this is a big one. containment theory records is partnering up with Railroad Earth for our next show. A mutual friend of both containment theorizers and Railroad Earthlings, Caroline Aufdemorte's father, recently had a series of life saving surgeries. Because of some general insurance company bull, right before he needed these surgeries, his insurance company decided to drop his coverage. Awesome right? So, our friend Matt @ RRE had an idea. We decided to have a benefit for Lewis, Caroline's dad, to help them with the medical bills. Friday, February 8th @ Railroad Earth in Emory Village (1467 Oxford Rd NE, next to SABA) we are having a show. Fernandina, Pistolero, No Disassemble and Chickens & Pigs have all agreed to play. It will be $7 @ the door & that gets you all the keg beer your little heart desires. There will also be a wine bar for $3 a glass for those interseted. All of us @ ctr and rre are pretty excited about this. Railroad Earth has PLENTY of space, so invite everyone you know. All the money goes to the Aufdemorte's, & there's really no better cause then helping out friends. So come join us. Because it's gonna be awesome. :: January 27, 2008 ::THANK YOU to everyone who came out to the last house show on the 26th!! We had a great turn out! Raised almost $200 for VeloAid & from what this munkee hears, everyone had a fantastic time. Thanks always to the bands, Chvasta (his 1st solo show i think was a hit), Fernandina & Batata Doce. Also thanks to DJ Kellen John Kid Danger for keeping everyone up and dancing well into the night. It was a great show, we @ ctr had a great time & are getting geared up for the next one. :: January 9, 2008 ::Happy New Year from containment theory records! We hope you all had a fabulous new years, as we did. Alrighty, new news for the new year. Well, we've got our next house show all lined up. After multiple scheduling quagmires we've settled a date. Saturday, January 26th @ the Dickerson/Coccia house in Kirkwood. We've got Batata Doce, Fernandina & Chvasta lined up to play, with a possible appearence by Sirius Bee. We'll be raising money for Just Cause, a great organization that supports AIDS relief workers in Africa. BYOB this time for guests. Rachael from SOPO bikes in EAV will be bringing a bike blender for some tasty blended drinks for a few dollars. So mark your calendars & we'll see you in a few weeks!! :: December 3, 2007 ::Thank you Atlanta! Our house show on Friday was a great success! With your help we raised $194 along with about 3 bags worth of work clothes to donate to The Samaritan House of Atlanta! Despite a few sound problems during Fernandina's set, the night was smooth like butter. Old Canoe & Fernandina got the evening off with some delicious toe tapping tunes & led the way to the hip swinging sounds of Batata Doce. Pistolero closed it out with new instruments (mandolin and saxophone) & a mellow warm & cozy sound that made everyone feel great. (Everyone be sure to check out Pistolero, this Friday, Dec 7th @ the Star Bar!) We'd like to again, thank the bands who came out & played & all the fans! We packed that house full & can't wait to do it again! Stay tuned - We've got our holiday show coming up in January. If you'd like to play, give us a holler booking@containmenttheoryrecords.com & we'll see you @ the next one. :: November 17, 2007 ::We've got a line up! Friday, November 30th is containment theory records' next house show! We were able to get some great local bands to come out, Old Canoe, Fernandina, Batata Doce and Pistolero will all be playing. In our effort to be more socially responsible CTR has decided that all of our house shows will be fundraisers for local charities. Being the winter months we will be taking donations for The Samaritan House of Atlanta. CTR will be providing beer & food for the bands & guests just like last time. So mark your calanders, bring your friends & some dollars for charity & come hang out with us! :: November 4, 2007 ::We’re booking Fernandina on their first east coast tour! From February through March Fernandina will be spreading the love all up and down the east coast. We’ve just begun picking dates and making plans; if you’d like to have Fernandina at your venue please contact us and let us know how we can help you out at booking@containmenttheoryrecords.com :: October 5, 2007 ::We’re having another house show! Since this entire label really grew out of the Winthrop University house shows, it wasn’t long before they became a staple of the CTR experience. We have a great house over in Kirkwood that is perfect for such events. We had a our 1st official house show on October 5, 2007. Since Eli’s wife, Liza, was working the AIDS walk and our friend, Mary, was walking in the Susan G Komen Breast Cancer research 3 day walk, we decided to make our 1st show a fundraiser for both causes. CTR provided beer & food along with 4 amazing bands (OBKB, Fernandina, Chickens & Pigs, and Sirius Bee’s Ice Cream Demons). Our friends and fans helped us raise over $233 dollars that night! Thanks to the bands & everyone who came out & made that show a great success! We can't wait for the next one! :: September 6, 2007 ::
Containment Theory Records is in Other Sound 2007! Back in January, Eli got in touch with Kim Ware (owner of Eskimo Kiss Records and the head of Other Sound) expressing that CTR would love to be involved with the festival. We helped out in every way we could: making buttons, producing posters and selling tickets. Fernandina plays night 2 of the festival at the Earl along with The Press, Yum-Yum Tree, Lay Down Mains, Citified and All night Drug Prowling Wolves. This is looking like it’s going to be a great festival so come on out & have some fun! :: August 29, 2007 ::
